Equity & Diversity Manager

Bio

To navigate a brave space where discussions of Diversity, Equity, Belonging and Inclusion (DE&BI) are welcomed and provide a common language for a multicultural dialogue to build relationships that are accepting the differences of others.

We continue to navigate a world that has been both fundamentally changed by a pandemic and is now making a more intentional effort to end systemic racism, social injustice, and inequality. At LMPD we’re not all the same, and we clearly understand this. We draw from our differences, experiences and how we think. Because community safety is our priority, we draw from our community to grow and learn.  We believe in including everyone.

The Equity and Diversity Manager for LMPD is a liaison for the following community groups:

  • LGBTQ+IA: Promoting inclusivity and equality for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Interest, Asexual/Ally individuals.
  • Hispanic/Latinx: Fostering engagement and understanding within the Hispanic and Latinx community, addressing diverse cultural perspectives.
  • International Leadership: Guiding initiatives that encourages cross-cultural collaboration and leadership development across diverse backgrounds.

In addition to working with the community groups, the Equity & Diversity Manager also spearheads the following Employee Resource Groups (ERG):

  • Minority Affairs Committee: Fostering an inclusive space within LMPD for underrepresented groups by addressing unique concerns and promoting equitable opportunities.
  • Women Mentoring Circles: Empowering female officers through mentorship and shared experienced in order to advance their professional development and leadership within the police department.
  • LGBTQ+IA: Creating a supportive network by advocating for the LGBTQ+IA officers and professional staff and promoting awareness to ensure a respectful and inclusive environment within LMPD.

By integrating LMPD ERGs (LGBTQ+IA, Minority Affairs and Women Mentoring Circles), the LMPD reinforces a comprehensive approach to diversity, equity, and collaboration within its ranks and the community.
