Patrolman Long was killed in an automobile accident while on patrol on Crittenden Drive at approximately 4 am.

Patrolman Long was one of four (4) brothers who were members of the Louisville Division of Police.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He had been with the department for five (5) years. He is survived by his wife and four (4) children.
