Towed Vehicles

All vehicles are taken to the Vehicle Impound Lot.

Identifying Your Car

To determine if your car has been impounded by the Louisville Metro Police Department, you will be asked for your:

  • License Plate Number
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Once it is determined where the vehicle is located, you will need to call that lot for details on when you can retrieve your car and the cost to get your car out of the impoundment lot.

Important Information

The LMPD does not charge impound and/or storage fees for recovered stolen vehicles that are released to the registered owner or notarized representative.

The LMPD also does not charge impound and/or storage fees for the release of a vehicle that was on hold for investigative purposes, provided the owner is not the suspect in the case.

Call 502-574-7078 to verify any fees that may be associated with your towed vehicle.
